Research and Algorithm Development

Our journey began in the research labs, where we immersed ourselves in deep scientific exploration. PhD studies, experiments, and structural simulations laid the groundwork for understanding how critical infrastructure ages and fails. During this stage, we focused on creating predictive maintenance algorithms powered by AI and computer vision. It was here that we built the intellectual backbone of SPAI-DT — transforming raw curiosity into concrete scientific breakthroughs.

Building the Dream

Once we had strong research results, we faced the big question: how can this make an impact in the real world? This was the moment we stepped out of the lab and into the world of business. We shaped our findings into a clear business case, pitched our vision, and secured the support needed to move forward. This stage was a dream come true — the point where SPAI-DT stopped being just an idea and started becoming a real innovation with the potential to change industries.

POC

With funding and validation in place, we rolled up our sleeves and began building. We developed our first prototype: a system that combines sensor data, drone scans, and AI analysis into a living digital twin of infrastructure. This was the stage of trial, error, and learning — testing in labs, refining algorithms, and validating results in controlled environments. It was exciting to see our concept come alive, transforming from theory into a tangible, functional platform.

Lab

We were able to develop a digital twin of a reinforced concrete beam while conducting a laboratory test. During the experiment, sensor data were continuously collected and integrated into a virtual BIM model, enabling it to reflect the real-time deformation and structural response of the beam. In parallel, nonlinear finite element analyses were performed at regular intervals using ABAQUS, and the simulation results were fed back into the BIM environment. This continuous exchange of data between the physical experiment, numerical simulations, and the digital model enhanced the predictive capabilities of the digital twin and provided deeper insights into the beam's behavior under loading.

Outreach

We attended NORDEEP in Finland, connecting with investors, corporates, and researchers through focused matchmaking, and Bits & Pretzels in Germany, gaining international exposure and engaging with global decision-makers. Next, we're heading to Biban Forum in Saudi Arabia, one of the world's largest entrepreneurship events, to explore new markets, pitch our vision, and build global partnerships.

Pilot and Real-World Deployment

Now, we stand on the edge of the next milestone: our first pilots in real-world settings. Here, SPAI-DT will step out into the field, working side by side with infrastructure operators to prove its value in live environments. This is where everything comes together — reducing inspection costs, improving safety, and giving engineers a smarter way to maintain the structures we all rely on. For us, this is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of SPAI-DT's real-world impact.
